Located within Two Light, Spark KC will offer an exciting opportunity for co-living - a first for the Kansas City startup ecosystem.
The Cordish Companies, Kansas City Power & Light District and Two Light Luxury Apartments are excited to announce a new collaborative workspace for downtown Kansas City: Spark KC. The coworking space, set to open late 2018, will support the growing Kansas City entrepreneurial community, placing members within close proximity to hundreds of successful businesses, dining options and entertainment within the Power & Light District and downtown Kansas City. Located within Two Light, Spark KC will also offer an exciting opportunity for co-living – a first for the Kansas City startup ecosystem and an innovative approach to downtown residential living.
Two Light Luxury Apartments, the second of four planned high-rise apartment buildings to be built by The Cordish Companies within the nine-block perimeter of the Power & Light District, joins One Light as the second new construction high-rise apartment building in the last 50 years in downtown Kansas City. Construction on the 24-story building will be completed a month earlier than anticipated, allowing residents to move into their new luxury apartment homes as early as May 4, 2018.
"We are thrilled to announce the first significant addition of office space in the Power & Light District since the opening of H&R Block," said Nick Benjamin, Vice President of Development for The Cordish Companies and Executive Director of the Kansas City Power & Light District. "With the rapid growth of the downtown population, the demand for downtown office space is higher than it has been in many years, and a large segment of that demand is looking for a coworking environment. Spark KC will be an ideal collaborative workspace for the Kansas City community, and we are very excited that it will be the pioneer for live-work opportunities in this market."
Spark launched its initial venue in the heart of Baltimore's Inner Harbor in 2016, welcoming 110 companies in its first two years of operations. Spark KC will open at Two Light in the Power & Light District with the same commitment to become an integral part of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Kansas City and both Missouri and Kansas, providing first-class amenities to its members in a unique architectural setting.
"Our vision for Spark is to provide local entrepreneurs an affordable, appealing, flexible way to locate and grow their businesses," said Shervonne Cherry, Director of Community & Partnerships for Spark. "We are excited to open Spark KC at Two Light within the Power & Light District in a dynamic urban neighborhood that will allow our members' businesses to succeed and thrive. Spark KC will become a catalyst for advancing Kansas City entrepreneurship through creative space and community for decades to come."
Located in the heart of downtown Kansas City on the northeast corner of Truman Road and Walnut Street, the two-level workspace will provide local entrepreneurs and startups an affordable and efficient way to grow their businesses and teams.
